Native American Producers Success Project

Previous Next

The Native American Producers Success Project (NAPS Project) is a collaborative effort between Dine’, Inc. (nonprofit), New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service (NM-CES), and Dine’ College Land Grant Office (DC- LGO). The project is funded by USDA’s Office of Partnership and Public Partnership Engagement | Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged and Veteran Farmers and Ranchers (OASDVFR) Program.

The goal of the NAPS Project is to increase the profitability and long- term sustainability of Navajo farmers and ranchers. To achieve this goal, activities in four key areas are being undertaken to:

  • Improve Navajo farm and ranch operations
  • Increase Navajo farmer/rancher knowledge of and access to available programs and technical assistance provided by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the Navajo Nation (NN), the New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service (NM-CES), the Dine’ College Land Grant Office (DC-LGO), and others
  • Facilitate Navajo farmer/rancher use of USDA’s – NRCS, FSA and RMA programs
  • Strengthen the organizational capacity of the Navajo Farmer and Rancher Congress (NFRC) to address the current and future needs of Navajo farmers and ranchers.

The Native American Producers Success Project (NAPS) has put together a factsheet to share their accomplishments over the years of working with Navajo farmers and ranchers. This factsheet shares the reports on various projects from conservation plan workshops, community gardening, field demonstrations, USDA resource fairs, and more.
