The Conservation Planning (CP) Program is a collaborative effort between the (Navajo Sustainable Agriculture (NSA) Project  and Diné College Land Grant Office (LGO). This program is available for all Farmers and Ranchers needing to complete a Conservation Plan in Eastern and Northern Agency grazing/irrigation project districts FREE of charge. The NSA/LGO CP Program does not supersede BIA in approving Conservation Plans. Please contact your respective agency’s Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) – Natural Resource Department, Grazing Official or Farm Board Member to initiate the process of acquiring your Conservation Plan.  The CP Program is designed to:

  • Assist farmers/ranchers in developing a very basic conservation plan draft for their operation to submit to Eastern or Northern Agency BIA Natural Resource Department.
  • Provide a one-day working session workshop focused on the Benefits of a Conservation Plan, setting goals and objectives, identifying natural resource concerns, developing maps of operation to develop a comprehensive soil/vegetation report, and developing management plans (Livestock, Ranch, and Farm).
  • Provide a basic NSA/LGO CP Program informational presentation for Grazing Committees, Farm Boards, Chapter Officials, or other organizations.
